With his own HBO Max TV series under active development, James Gunn and Peter Safran—the new CEOs of DC Studios—will feature the fan-favourite comic book character in their quasi-reboot of the DC Universe (DCU).
This follows years of botched starts, including a projected 2016 movie produced by Greg Berlanti, who introduced the Arrowverse to our TV screens.
But Gunn and Safran have a tentative release date, and the pair suggests they have already discussed the part with performers.

Who Is Booster Gold?
Safran summed up the character as "a loser from the future who uses his basic future technology to come back to today and pretend to be a superhero," during his introduction of the idea during the DC presentation.
Originally debuted in 1986, Booster Gold Powers (a.k.a. Michael Jon Carter) was precisely as Safran described: a nobody who wanted to be worshiped as a hero, understanding the only way he could do so was to travel back in time.
In the comics, this included pilfering devices from a museum where he worked, technology that would seem amazing thousands of years ago.
Returning from 25th Century Gotham City with his reliable AI companion Skeets, Booster Gold Powers set about exploiting his knowledge of 20th century history to avoid significant events - all in the goal of making enough money to start his own company, live comfortably in the past as a genius.
But his ego sometimes interfered with his heroic goals; other superheroes found his naked self-promotion intolerable.
Though Carter can never change public view of himself as a showboat, we witness him develop into his responsibilities as a hero over the course of the comics.
The character has only sporadically appeared in Smallville ( Eric Martsolf) and DC Legends Of Tomorrow (Scrubs actor Donald Faison), but has never had a prominent part in live-action until now.
Will the series remain near to the comics?
Gunn described booster gold costume at the DC presentation as essentially the tale of a superhero's impostor mentality. How did he cope with that?
"How does he seek to use this future technology to be loved by people now? What truly forms the basis of that? That is a character study, hence the kind of show will be quite distinct.
Although this is simply a rough framework, it sounds like the ideal vehicle for Gunn, who via Guardians of the Galaxy and Peacemaker has established as the leading producer of superhero father issues flicks.
Like Gunn's approach to examining those characters' pasts, Booster Gold Powers is a pitiful comic figure whose vanity is his own worst enemy – and much like Star-Lord and John Cena's anti-hero, this will probably concentrate on Carter's own damaged connection with his dad.
Michael Jon Carter and his twin sister never got to meet their dad, who spent away all their money and fled the family house soon after they were born, in the comics.
Although the show will probably examine how that terrible childhood experience left Carter with a yearning to be loved by the masses, the time travel traveling back centuries means we most likely won't see him.
When should we expect Booster Gold?
Gunn confirmed: "We are talking to an actor about this right now. Casting is probably announced quite soon. That is most likely what will happen.
Though the exact publication date is unknown, the series has been confirmed to be included in the first chapter of the all-new DCU, headed Gods And Monsters.
The sole officially confirmed release date for this era is the live-action film Superman: Legacy, scheduled for Friday, July 11, 2025.
Though we might see booster gold real name on our screens even early, it is reasonable to presume a 2025 release date is the aim for this series, since casting already in full swing.
